About Silas Huffman
With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses. In McDonough, volunteers are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like local baby, Silas Huffman.
Silas is the son of Christopher and Amanda Huffman. Born on April 29, 2013, Silas was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. The doctors at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Egleston Children’s Hospital in Georgia, performed a life-saving heart transplant December 08, 2013. An estimated $50,000 is being raised by McDonough volunteers.
